Kozhikode:Postmaster cadre a dream of department of posts is not much productive because of low grade pay of Rs.2800 in pay band 1.Majority of offices in grade1 are quaters attached offices and most of grade1 officials are working without HRA and this causes reduction in salary compared to PAs/SAs in the same years of service. The only gain when we consider a grade 1 official is overwork and less salary. What a cadre is this. The other attaractive thing is that a grade official can't appear for PS Group-B exam.Department can solve this anomaly only by placing them in the pay band 2 scale with a grad pay of Rs4200/- that is the pay scale of IP and also an allowance of 10% of basic pay for office maintenance for grade1 officers and grade pay 4600 for grade II officers with and allowance of 20% of basic pay and also grade pay 4800/- for grade III officers with an allowance of 30% of basic pay. Also promote grade 1 officers to grade II after 3 years of service and promote grade II officers to grade III after 2 years of service.
Department also ensure that they can also apply PS group B exam like general line LSG cadre officials.Otherwise department is inhibiting the purpose of this newly created cadre and young talented postmaster grade officers.
it is true that postmaster having a office with quarter, does not get much advantage as comapare to the other postal assistants with same years of service in clerical cadre. some times it is possible that Salary of PA is more than Postmaster. This is one type of injustice
